Sleep Disorder Stress

Stress is part of our life we live in today. This has led many people to pursue ways to cope with it. However, as human beings have a natural limited effort and strain that they can cope with. Many would be surprised how often many of these people turn out to be dependent on some form of drugs to be able to continue on in life the way they are going. These drugs may be legal pharmaceuticals such as tranquilizers, anti-depression drugs, and also, ones designed to deal with anxiety and insomnia. Many of these prescribe drugs contain:-

Doxepin:  a drug with side effects.
Clomipramine: over dosage can generate toxicity.
Amoxapine: can have side effects like Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome
Ziprasidone: leads to orthostasis and sedation

There are even people depend on illegal drugs such as marijuana and/or cocaine to beat their unbearable stress. Some people indulge themselves with smoking cigarettes and drink alcoholic drinks excessively. Because stress can create enervated and tired, some people will resort to stimulants, such as nicotine and caffeine to keep up their energy in order be able to carry out their daily life routine.

When the body detects signs of stress, hormones are released within the body, such as adrenaline to help us respond to the increasing heart rate and raising blood pressure by constricting our blood vessels allowing more blood to muscles that might be necessary for our survival. Cortisol, another type of hormones will release within our body which allows more blood sugar to be available. However, to have the body remain in this emergency physiological state for long periods of time is extremely mentally and physiologically unhealthy. Unfortunately, this will occurs during experiencing stress.

Sleep deprivation due to stress can lead to sleep disorder and insomnia, chest pain stress and also interfere with normal sexual function. It can affect concentration and memory and tension headaches. Stress hormones, cortisol, that release within our body promote the formation of fat around the abdomen, an area that considered being the most unhealthy place to store fat. With this, stress may be one of the main contribution for some people becomes and stay fat.

Stress occurs to any individuals, either they are self-employed, bosses or typical employee can experience ongoing stress because due to the demands of pressure of the complexity and time constraints of their work. Employers should definitely interest themselves in becoming aware of reducing stress in the workplace as stress can seriously reduce a worker’s effectiveness. Employee’s concentration and memory may become impaired and may experience sleep disorder with an increase of danger from accidents both in and out of workplace. And his potential for developing health problems increases considerably. And in one’s social life, post traumatic stress disorder may be caused by a family illness or death, or social strife within a family or other social relations. Personal financial problems can also be a significant source of stress.

Ongoing stress will drain your energy and weaken you and may resort to taking in more caffeine from different sources like coffee, sodas and teas. Caffeine stimulates the production of adrenaline, and may give you a sense of having more energy. In the end, this will prove counterproductive as adrenaline is a stress hormone, and even though you may feel more energy, you will be experiencing even more of the effects of stress such as increased heart rate and blood pressure. Anyone suffering from stress needs to keep caffeine out of their life. .

People with stress conditions sometimes do not realize or unaware of just how much stress they are being subjected to and continue on towards their daily life as usual until their true condition is finally reflected to some severe health condition. The fact is even low levels of stress, if chronic, can have serious adverse effects on one’s life.

Some people relay to stress management but managing stress is all about taking charge of your thoughts, your emotions, your schedule, your environment, and the way you deal with problems. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun including the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on but with today’s hectic life and to keep up with today’s lifestyle it’s easier said then to be done.

  7. It's crazy how doctors are so keen on prescribing antipsychotic drugs for insomnia, even with much safer options around. I doubt many of them would be willing to take drugs with such severe side effects and serious risks themselves.

I also listen to a hypnosis CD. My biggest change however was realising that I was stressed and unhappy and changed my job, its lower paid but less hours and I now sleep much better and see the family more.

  22. The bigger issue I am looking at is environmental influences. I reccomend at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Even if you have a sleeping disorder, it is not wise to turn to illegal drugs or over the counter medications. They can be subject to abuse and damaging of your health status. 40. I find that I go in cycles. For a while I get a good nights sleep and them bang, I can sleep for a couple of hours and then I am awake the rest of the night. It is funny because it is not like I can't turn my brain off. If I could have some productive brain storming while I was awake I would like that, but for me it is like I am in a void. Have others experienced this?
